Jackie and Ryan's Kitchen

This week's Home Story began when Jackie attended a project class that I had enrolled in as well.  While we made our burlap door wreaths, Jackie expressed an interest in any classes at Fred & Bessie's. So our association began. She enrolled in a Painted Ladder Class and was chatting about her interest in purchasing her partner's grandmother's home.

In December, Jackie attended a Kitchen Cupboard door demo and class at the store. She and Ryan had put in an offer and were just waiting for all the purchase conditions to be met. I remember before we bought my husband's family home, I would sit and imagine how I was going to refurbish it too.

Jackie felt the wood cupboards were of high quality (they were oak) and she could renew them with Fusion Mineral Paint. She learned to prep her cabinets, use Ultra Grip and paint the door. In the demo class, she painted 2 cupboard doors The first was painted in Tones For Tots , Little Lamb and the second painted in Penney & Co, Soapstone, two of our Fusion Mineral Paint popular greys. Jackie viewed Soapstone at home in the natural light and "lived" with it for a day or two, and she was sold. Returning to the store, she armed herself with everything she would need.

I wasn't expecting to hear from her again but she was experiencing some difficulty with brush stokes in the Tough Coat finish. We gave it a very light sand and then "sandwiched" Tough Coat between the two layers of paint. Jackie preferred the matte paint finish over Tough Coat finish which has a very slight sheen. She has the extra protection without sacrificing the look.

The cabinets are now complete...oh I love love love the Soapstone from the  Penney & Co Collection..  With a few hiccups along the way, Jackie did a fabulous job.

The moral of the story?  Yes You Can! Jenna and I will be there for you every step of the way, to ensure you get the best results and "paint it beautiful."

In progress.  Cabinets require some prep for the most successful job! Wash with a TSP substitute and degloss with a 220 grit sanding sponge. If you are changing handles or hinges fill in any undesired holes at this step. New knobs or handles may not fit your current holes.

The couple changed the fan and installed a new cooktop.

So many grey based neutrals to select from. Jackie and Ryan's kitchen  is so light filled and grey is the perfect choice.
