The ballet dresser was painted by my daughter Jenna. Her little girl loves ballet and dancing. So when it came time to redecorate her room the new decor was dancers. A few years ago we attended the Degas exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The dresser pays homage to his works. Emerson loves purple so the colour scheme is Miss Mustard Seed's Dried Lavender and Farmhouse White. And what French inspired painting wouldn't have Arabesque.
Degas often painted the same image over and over to perfect his craft. This practice sketch and painting was the inspiration for this dresser.
This ballerina was painted on watercolour paper using French Enamel, Dried Lavender, and Arabesque.
